Rythmagick

Character Study

The game was going to focus on a wide variety of characters and skins for them, so we started with the main character, Malela. At first, I thought of a little witch with some 80s touches, like blue pants and leg warmers, but the direction ended up shifting towards a more fantasy-medieval style, as we can see in the options below (though I still really like the first version xD).

After landing on a visual identity for the character template, we moved on to other potential characters for the game.

Rythmagick is a rhythm tennis game project created by Monk Monkey, where I participated in the initial concept design and the overall visual identity!

Environment and Interface

Since we only made a single environment for testing, it was pretty simple. The interface followed that same idea, featuring the characters' health bars and portraits, along with the rhythm bar used for attacks.

The animations were entirely done by my colleague @gaiden.exe. What he pulled off within the project's frame limitations is amazing!

That’s it for today! This little project was pretty short, but I enjoyed it a lot. Who knows, maybe one day the game will come out in full (and maybe with a more disco sequel!). Thanks for reading this far, and see you next time! ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ/
